I'm using GVO more as a fix to flip the approach to the North side of the airport which is more scenic and makes it a lot easier to spot the airport, because we'll fly almost over top it. ![]() Towards the end of the flight we're actually not going to flying over the Gaviota VOR (GVO) because it bring us close to the mountains North of Santa Barbara and make the route quite a bit longer. Weather or not you fly this little sight seeing tour is up to you, you could of course also repeat the flight and do it the second time if you like. The parts that can be left out will be marked as optional. During the flight we're going to show how to intercept a VOR, you can skip this as well if you like. This route is going to take us South-West first, to see the Hollywood Sign and the downtown city of L.A., we'll describe how to level off, fly manual heading and then resume the route but you can skip all this if you like.
